WHAT I LEARNED: 1. At 48 pages, this is the longest pamphlet in the CAL catalog because it’s filled with a little info about each Step & Tradition followed by several related questions & personal stories from Alateen members. The reflections share quite a bit about when good Traditions go bad, so for someone like me that took forever to even sneak a peek into the Traditions, the stories are little “a ha” moments that helped me make more sense of them.
2. I liked how a story in Step 12 compared a member to a sponge that has absorbed so much knowledge they must be squeezed out at a meeting before they can soak up more!
3. A question for Tradition 3 reminded me that drug users, alcoholics, & people with criminal records can be Al-Anon members… so long as they fit the sole requirement.
4. And lastly, practicing the principles in Tradition 12, I can have a simple goal of being a better person today than I was yesterday. Awwww… Does this pamphlet come with sugar? …Because that was just too sweet! 🙂
**BONUS: According to the WSO’s website, this pamphlet is listed as now having 60 pages (practically a booklet)! I know a few Alateen pamphlets were being revised in 2013 with the new overall re-design, so perhaps this one was too? I’ll put this on my list to order & post an update on what I find out. Stay tuned…
